Ferrule

Laser Cleave Advantages

Fast

  • <1/cleave
  • Throughput determined by method of operation

Reduced Post Processing

  • Cleaves to within >40µm of the ferrule face (depends on ferrule type and architecture)
  • Smooth profile won't tear polishing film

Flexibility

  •  Cuts fiber and epoxy
  • insensitive to variations in epoxy bead size

Non-contact process

  • No tool wear, or mechanical damage to the fiber

Reproducible

  • Can't cleave back into ferrule

Optical quality

  • Bare fiber can be cleaved to final process quality
  • Lower scatter than conventionally polished ends

Fiber and epoxy are precision cut in a single operation, resulting in a fast, reproducible method for ferrule and connector assemblies. LaserCleave can reliably cut to 40µm of the ferrule face, reducing the number of polishing steps required and so improving productivity.

Machine Images > Connector CLeaving Machine > Small (120 x 108)Cleaving machines can be supplied as manually loaded single or multiple fiber processing systems or as fully automated machines.

Fiber Processing > Laser ferrule cleave > Small (120 x 90)The quality of the laser cleave is unsurpassed. The cleave shape and position and accurately reproduced on every part, so there is no "worst case" to take account of in subsequent steps.

Fiber Processing > Flat Cleave > Small (120 x 90)In all cases, the speed of the Laser Cleave process (see movie) gives unbeatable cost-effectiveness.

Fiber Processing > Laser Cleave near ferrule > Small (120 x 78)Moreover, Fibers can be cleaved away from the ferrule where a "fiber Stub" is required.  Laser  cleaving clean fiber without epoxy results in the same optical quality surface associated with the standard LaserCleave process..
